Puppy Adoption Spotlight!!!!
TROY'S BLOG:
Oftentimes dog breeders and exhibitors get so worked up trying to win and breed the best dog we forget the people that are behind the action and end up hurting other people. Below is a quote from Historical Vocal Pedagogy Classics by Berton Coffin. It is from a Content book from school which I think we can all benefit from reading and DOING: "Professor Coffin was unique in that he appreciated the success of other teachers and was willing to share his knowledge. When colleagues asked him for help with specific vocal problems in their students, he would take the time to work with the students and their teachers in suggesting practical ways in which to deal with a given situation-usually tuning a vowel or vowels, or an easy approach to the passaggio or some other critical vocal area. He found this professional camaraderie very rewarding and there was no jealousy or one-upmanship." How amazing! If only we could do the same. I remember my first teaching job...I thought I knew all the new tricks and had all the new knowlegde just coming out of school. If only I would have leaned for help from my collegues I'm sure I might still be teaching today.
MOVIE TIME
Have you watched "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe" by CS Lewis. What a great film. For Christians it screams out the story of Christ where the Lion is a Christlike figure. My favorite lines are when the Lion says, "It is Finished" when he kills the Witch (or Satan), the same line Christ uses when he dies for mankind and rises again (the same thing the Lion does). The other favorite line I have is the dialogue between Lucy and another creature. Lucy says the Lion isn't tame but he is Good. This is Christ. He isn't tame, and will speak up to serve a purpose, like when Christ overturned the tables around the Church, or His Father's house. BUT, Christ is always good. No one is better than another for Christ....we can all inherit the Kingdom of God BUT we must make Christ our Savior!
The Law
Before Christ we were all held accountable for our sins personally, which meant going to Heaven was impossible. Of course God knew this and He loves us so much he created a plan well before the Creation of Man for our redemption, the blood of Christ. I used to always wonder how the death of God's son could forgive all of our sins. I partly understand it now, although I believe it is part of the "mystery" of Christ, meaning not everything is meant to be understood, or not everything can be understood by our earthly minds. I attended a service the other day by Pastor Dodd where he was preaching on the Old Testament, where we were still under the law. He was talking about the time Jacob tricked his father Issac into giving him the family blessing over his father's favorite, Esau. Esau was the first born and due to the Law of Moses during that time the father HAD to give the blessing to the firstborn, even if that child isn't loved (which was not the case with Issac Deut. 21:15-17). After Jacob tricked his father into giving him the blessing, Esau begged his father, "Isn't there one blessing left to give me?" In Old testament time the answer would be no according to the above passage in Deut. but as Pastor Dodd pointed out, Jacob would in turn make everything right and learn from his lessons. He blessed all of his children with the appropriate blessing for them. See, this is how we need to live, EVERYONE is a child of God meaning EVERYONE is loved and EVERYONE has a Destiny chosen by GOD....but God has generously given us the will of human choice, which means it is up to us if we will follow HIS destiny for our life. If we give everyone a blessing, people feel good about themselves and in turn bless others. I encourage you to find something GOOD to say to your fellow man.....it repays itself tenfold! Thank GOD for the New Testament consecrated by Jesus! |

TROY'S BLOG
I wanted to add a section on my website where you could get to know me a bit better so I decided to dedicate this place as Troy's Blog. It will include my thoughts and some quotes that I find of interest. I hope you enjoy reading them and getting to know me better. By the way, isn't the puppy next door ADORABLE! IF he doesn't sell (IF), I'm keeping him and making him a champion! You can see more of him at the puppy page.
- There is a time to be silent and there is a time to speak, but usually silence will keep you out of trouble. The first lesson of silence is HEART. When struggling with temptation most people would advise to say no, but I find the only way to overcome temptation is to say YES to Jesus. Seriously. I don't mean to sound all religious (that is the last thing I want to do), but knowing and spending time meditating to Jesus is the only way we can overcome the many obstacles in our life. Psalm 46:10 says "Be still and Know that I am God." I don't know about you BUT I have a hard time being still enough just to give God a chance to work in my life. I'm always on the go, looking for the next new project OR, how to make something even better than what it is (like this website for instance). When speaking on Silence and Solitude we can think of words and silence in the following manner: Words are the instrument of the present world. Silence is the mystery of the future. When we have realization of our self we will then have compassion for others.
- It isn't the love of power BUT the Power of Love!!!! AHHHA, got to love that one!
More Thoughts:
- Professionalism is all in attitude.
- Rumors come and go but quality endures! Remember that one!
This quote comes from Dietrich Bonhoeffer:
- "I Think that even in this place we ought to live as if we had no wishes and no future, and just be our true selves." How true is this. I wonder how GREAT the world would be if everyone did this.
More thoughts on Christmas:
What is Christmas all about? The presents... the tree...Santa Claus....family? Well, I think its definately fun to have all those things IN Christmas, but it is also important to remember the reason for the season........the Birth of Christ. No matter how many negative things come our way during the year (Which boy can some people be difficult!), Christ assures us (at least I think he does), that "Everything is going to be ok." As he takes care of all the birds in the field, how much more important are we? Though obstacles come our way, they never kill us and usually we become stronger because of them. Let's make this year and this time a time of Joy. As for me and my house, Joy will always radiate in it, around it, and beside it but most importantly IN us. Merry Christmas!
Taken from "Loving God" by Mike Bickle:
"There is a powerful, concrete connection between knowing the truth about who God is as the way of experiencing passion for HIM. It is the revelation of God's passionate affection for us that awakens ever-deepening feelings of love and passion for Him."
How true that is. One may know WHO God is but there is also a difference between knowing him and having Passion for Him. I pray that every person may yearn for a Passion for Him!
